Former Wisconsin Basketball Player Walt McGrory Dies at 24 After Cancer Battle

Walt McGrory, a former Wisconsin Badgers basketball player, died at the age of 24 after battling osteosarcoma, a rare pediatric bone cancer.
McGrory was diagnosed with the disease in 2021 and had been undergoing treatment since then. The cancer originated in his shin, later spreading to his knee and lungs.
Despite his illness, McGrory remained hopeful and continued to inspire others through his journey, which he shared on his social media platforms.
Before his diagnosis, McGrory had announced plans to transfer from the University of Wisconsin—Madison to the University of South Dakota.
McGrory was a standout player at Edina High School in Minnesota, where he set the all-time scoring record, and played in 37 games over four seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers.
