Former Walmart Employee Arrested for Threatening 'Lewiston Part 2' on Snapchat, Released on $10,000 Bail
The threat, involving a Snapchat post of the ex-employee with a hunting rifle referring to a recent massacre in Lewiston, Maine, leads to misdemeanor domestic violence terrorizing and felony aggravated reckless conduct charges.
- Michael Bowden, 18, a former Walmart employee, was arrested over a Snapchat post in which he posed with a hunting rifle and ammunition outside his ex-workplace with the caption, 'Lewiston part 2.'
- Bowden was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence terrorizing and felony aggravated reckless conduct following the threatening post. He had been fired from the Walmart in Palmyra in 2021, and had been recently showing up outside the store.
- The threat came just days after Robert Card, a 40-year-old US Army reservist, carried out a mass shooting at a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston, Maine, killing 18 people and injuring 13 others.
- Bowden was arrested at his home in Etna, Maine, where deputies discovered and seized the rifle that was featured in the Snapchat post. He was later released on a $10,000 bail, and is due in court on January 3, 2024.
- Another individual, Edward Dawe, a 32-year-old former Maine resident, was also arrested after falsely claiming that the Lewiston shooter, Robert Card, had an accomplice who planned to attack a local high school. This led to the closure of District 49 schools.
