Overview

  • A D.C. grand jury unsealed a four-count federal indictment charging Seth Jason with influencing a federal official by threat, threatening a family member, interstate communications with intent to kidnap or injure and anonymous telecommunications harassment.
  • Court filings allege that between October 2023 and January 2025, Jason placed eight anonymous calls from studios and control rooms at VOA headquarters threatening to kill Greene, her staff and their families.
  • Jason was arrested on July 17 by U.S. Capitol Police and Anne Arundel County officers and made his initial federal court appearance that afternoon.
  • If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of 27 years in prison under federal sentencing guidelines.
  • The investigation was led by the U.S. Capitol Police and State Department Office of Inspector General with assistance from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Maryland and the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
