Former Voice of America Employee Arrested in Threats Case Against Marjorie Taylor Greene

Overview

  • He was apprehended in Washington, D.C., on July 17 after a federal grand jury indicted him on four counts related to threatening a member of Congress.
  • The indictment alleges eight calls between Oct. 11, 2023 and Jan. 21, 2025, in which he threatened to kill Rep. Greene, her staff and their families with firearms.
  • Investigators traced the calls to phone lines in studios and control rooms at Voice of America headquarters, where Jason had been employed.
  • Federal prosecutors led by Acting U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro say the charges include influencing a federal official by threatening a family member, influencing by threat, interstate communications with intent to kidnap or injure and anonymous telecommunications harassment.
  • Jason, who also served as an Anne Arundel County reserve police officer until his removal, is scheduled for his initial court appearance this afternoon.
