Former Vladimir Mayor Dmitry Naumov Gets 8 Years for Bribe-Taking

Investigators say he aided an illicit funeral network by installing allies in city enterprises and curbing competitors through a local regulation.

Overview

  • In the Oktjabrsky District Court of Vladimir, Naumov was convicted of receiving a bribe in an especially large amount and sentenced to eight years in a strict-regime colony.
  • The court imposed an 11 million-ruble fine, barred him from certain municipal posts for five years, and ordered recovery of at least 1.1 million rubles identified as bribe proceeds.
  • Judges kept in place the arrest of seized assets, including cash and jewelry worth about 1.3 million rubles and a vehicle valued around 4.3 million rubles.
  • According to the Investigative Committee, he conspired in November 2023 to support an illegal funeral operation by placing associates at MUP Specialized Funeral Services Complex and MKU Center for Urban Road Management, receiving at least 1.1 million rubles in three parts from October 2024 to March 2025.
  • Prosecutors had sought nine years and a 55 million-ruble fine, while the defense says a decision on whether to appeal will be made within 15 days.
