Former US Swimming Champion Jamie Cail Died of Accidental Fentanyl Poisoning

Jamie Cail, a former champion US swimmer, died of fentanyl intoxication in the US Virgin Islands on February 21, 2023.
Cail was found unresponsive by her boyfriend at their home before being pronounced dead at a nearby clinic.
The 42-year-old won gold at the 1997 Pan Pacific Championships and had a successful high school and college swimming career.
Cail's death has highlighted the ongoing fentanyl crisis in America, which killed over 100,000 people in 2021.
Authorities initially investigated Cail's death as a potential homicide but ruled it an accidental overdose.
