Former UDI Leader Jean-Christophe Lagarde Indicted Over False Allegations Against Garrido and Corbière

Lagarde faces charges linked to a fabricated 2022 article falsely accusing politicians Raquel Garrido and Alexis Corbière of exploiting an undocumented worker.

Jean-Christophe Lagarde, ex-president of the UDI, was indicted on October 8, 2024, for his alleged involvement in orchestrating false claims against Raquel Garrido and Alexis Corbière.
The accusations originated from a 2022 article in *Le Point* that falsely claimed the couple exploited an undocumented housekeeper, which they immediately denied and sued for defamation.
Lagarde's former chauffeur, Rudy Succar, admitted to fabricating the allegations, claiming he acted independently to please his employer.
A police officer associated with the case, Anouar Bouhadjela, was also indicted on October 10, 2024, as part of the investigation into organized fraud and handling stolen property.
Lagarde, who has previously faced legal troubles, including a 2022 conviction for providing a fictitious job to a family member, maintains his innocence in this case.
