  • He was hospitalized in mid-November in a Moscow clinic after a stroke earlier in the year and was placed on mechanical ventilation.
  • From 2022 to 2024 he served as first vice president of FC Istiklol after previously coaching the team.
  • As a player he featured for Spartak Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow and other Russian clubs, winning the 1994 league title with Spartak.
  • He later worked as Rubin Kazan’s sporting director during two Russian championship seasons, and he earned one cap each for Tajikistan and Russia.
