Former School Resource Officer Accused of Dunking 6-Year-Old at Florida Resort Pool

A judge set a $20,000 bond with no-contact restrictions as the case proceeds.

Overview

  • Deputies say the incident occurred on Dec. 19 at the Gaylord Palms Resort pool in Kissimmee as three children were playing.
  • Security video reported by ClickOrlando shows the boy held underwater for about two to three seconds before he left the pool with a nosebleed, according to police.
  • Tiffany Lee Griffith, 36, was arrested the same day, booked into the Osceola County Jail, and later released on bond on the child abuse charge.
  • At a pretrial hearing, the judge ordered no contact with the child or witnesses, no return to the resort, and no alcohol while the case is pending.
  • Authorities and local records say Griffith previously served with the Punta Gorda Police Department as a school resource officer who taught students about bullying.
