Former Samsung Executive Indicted for Stealing Trade Secrets to Build Copycat Chip Factory in China

A former Samsung executive was arrested and indicted for stealing factory blueprints and clean-room designs from Samsung Electronics.
The executive allegedly used the stolen information to attempt to build an unauthorized semiconductor factory in China, though the effort was unsuccessful.
Six co-conspirators were also indicted for actively participating in the theft of technology from Samsung.
The stolen technology was estimated to be worth at least $233 million.
The theft was described as a serious crime that could undermine South Korea's domestic chip manufacturing industry.
