• Mark McArdle died on August 14, 2025, at the age of 68.
• Premier David Crisafulli described Queensland as “poorer for the passing” of McArdle, with other LNP leaders and Sunshine Coast officials also paying tribute.
• McArdle represented Caloundra in the Queensland Parliament from 2004 until his retirement before the 2020 state election.
• He became leader of the Queensland Liberal Party in 2007 and led the 2008 merger with the National Party to form the LNP.
• As Minister for Energy and Water Supply from 2012 to 2015, he devised plans to secure the state’s water supplies and bolster energy resilience.
