Former Prosecutor Ryan Khojasteh to Challenge DA Brooke Jenkins in November Election

Khojasteh, once fired by Jenkins, advocates for progressive criminal justice reforms and criticizes rising crime rates under Jenkins' tenure.

Ryan Khojasteh, a former San Francisco prosecutor who was fired by District Attorney Brooke Jenkins in 2022, has announced his candidacy to challenge Jenkins in the November 2024 election.
Khojasteh, who is currently an Alameda County prosecutor, is presenting himself as a fair prosecutor intent on fixing the criminal justice system and is advocating for progressive criminal justice policies.
Despite his relatively young age of 30, Khojasteh has previous political experience, having run for Congress against Rep. Nancy Pelosi in 2018 and served on the city’s Immigrant Rights Commission for almost six years.
Khojasteh has criticized Jenkins for her handling of certain cases and has pointed out an increase in violent crime and drug-overdose deaths under her tenure.
Jenkins, who led the recall of former district attorney Chesa Boudin, has confirmed through a spokesperson that she intends to seek re-election.
