Overview

  • The Seoul Central District Court granted the new arrest warrant early July 10, citing serious risk that Yoon could tamper with evidence in the probe of his December martial law decree.
  • Special counsel Cho Eun-suk’s team filed the request on five charges, including insurrection, abuse of power, falsifying official documents and obstructing justice.
  • Prosecutors allege Yoon convened only selected Cabinet members for a brief pre-decree meeting and later backdated and discarded the martial law declaration to feign legality.
  • Investigators claim Yoon ordered deletion of secure call records used by military commanders and directed the Presidential Security Service to block his detention in January.
  • Yoon continues to deny all allegations and is held at Uiwang’s Seoul Detention Center as prosecutors prepare to formally indict him.
