Her arrest coincides with an outstanding $50,000 reward for information on the last two escapees.

Darriana Burton was taken into custody without incident in New Orleans, and is facing a felony charge of Conspiracy to Commit Simple Escape related to her alleged involvement in facilitating the escape.

Overview

  • Darriana Burton, 28, was charged June 9 with conspiracy to commit simple escape after authorities say she facilitated communications between inmate Derrick Groves and outside accomplices.
  • Only Derrick Groves and Antoine Massey remain at large from the May 16 breakout of 10 inmates, eight of whom have been recaptured.
  • Investigators have arrested at least 16 people in the ongoing probe, including a maintenance worker accused of shutting off cell water to aid the escape.
  • Authorities say the inmates removed a toilet, crawled through a hole in the cell wall and scaled a barbed-wire fence during the early-morning jailbreak.
  • Groves faces life without parole for a 2018 Mardi Gras Day killing and Massey is charged with rape, kidnapping and domestic battery.
