Former NHL player Alex Formenton has turned himself in to police in London, Ontario, in connection with an alleged sexual assault by several members of Canada’s 2018 world junior team.
Formenton's lawyer confirmed that charges have been filed against Formenton and several other players, but did not specify the charges.
Five players from the 2018 Canadian world junior team, including Formenton, have taken leaves of absence from their current clubs in the past week.
The charges are believed to be connected to an alleged group sexual assault of a woman in a London, Ontario, hotel room in 2018.
