Adrian Wilson, 44, was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a domestic incident involving his wife.
Wilson allegedly choked his wife and broke several household items during the altercation.
He reportedly threatened to kill himself and took a handgun from a safe before leaving the home.
Wilson, a former Arizona Cardinals player and Carolina Panthers executive, was released on bail the same day.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 16 for a virtual case management conference.
