Former NBA All-Star Jameer Nelson Promoted to GM of Philadelphia 76ers' G League Affiliate, Delaware Blue Coats

Nelson's promotion follows the successful Blue Coats' G-League title win and follows the 76ers elevation of previous Blue Coats GM Prosper Karangwa; Nelson moves up from his previous roles as the Blue Coats' assistant GM and a scout for the 76ers.

  • Former NBA All-Star Jameer Nelson has been promoted to the General Manager position of the Philadelphia 76ers' G League affiliate, Delaware Blue Coats.
  • Nelson, who played for the Orlando Magic for 10 seasons and was named an All-Star in 2009, was previously the assistant GM for the Blue Coats and a scout for the 76ers.
  • He replaces Prosper Karangwa, who moved into a more prominent role in the 76ers' front office after leading the Blue Coats to a G League title.
  • Beyond his playing career, Nelson has connections to the Philadelphia area as a native of Chester, Pennsylvania and as a former player for Philadelphia college Saint Joseph's University.
  • As the GM, Nelson will lead the Blue Coats as they begin their defense of their G League title.
