The suspension comes after a whistleblower, believed to be a Mets employee, provided evidence of Eppler's manipulation of injury reports.
Eppler admitted to the practices when confronted by MLB, acknowledging that exaggerating or faking injuries is common among general managers.
Despite stepping down in October to avoid being a distraction, Eppler's actions have led to MLB's decision not to hire a new general manager for the Mets this offseason.
Eppler can apply for early reinstatement from his MLB-imposed season-long ban.
