Former Megachurch Pastor Robert Morris Indicted on Child Sexual Abuse Charges

The Oklahoma Attorney General announced five charges against Morris for alleged abuse of a 12-year-old girl in the 1980s, following decades of accusations.

Robert Morris, former pastor of Texas-based Gateway Church and a one-time adviser to Donald Trump, has been indicted in Oklahoma on five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child.
The charges stem from allegations that Morris sexually abused Cindy Clemishire, who was 12 years old at the time, between 1982 and 1987 while he was a traveling preacher.
Morris admitted to past inappropriate behavior but characterized it as limited to kissing and touching; Clemishire has accused him of more severe acts, including rape by instrumentation.
The statute of limitations does not apply in this case because Morris was not a resident of Oklahoma during the time of the alleged abuse, according to the Oklahoma Attorney General's office.
Morris resigned from Gateway Church in 2024 following Clemishire's public accusations, and the church has since launched an independent review of the allegations.
