Former Mayor Arrested in Connection with Assassination of Haitian President

- Kessa is being held in Haiti’s notorious National Penitentiary in Port-au-Prince, but has not yet been charged.
- The arrest occurred after Kessa met with Judge Walther Wesser Voltaire, the fifth judge to be appointed to the case.
- More than 40 suspects have been arrested in the case, including 18 former Colombian soldiers and several high-ranking Haitian police officers.
- While the case continues in Haiti, 11 suspects have been extradited to the U.S., with two of them already sentenced.
