Former Mars Hill Police Chief Fired for Soliciting Nude Photos from Subordinate's Wife

Jon Clark's misconduct, revealed through an independent investigation, also included lying to officials and mishandling firearms.

Jon Clark, the former police chief of Mars Hill, North Carolina, was fired in October 2023 after soliciting nude photos from a subordinate's wife on two separate occasions.
Clark's misconduct was revealed after Captain Chad Wilson, whose wife was the recipient of the inappropriate messages, showed the Snapchat exchanges to town manager Nathan Bennett.
An independent investigation was launched following the revelation, during which Clark admitted to sending the messages but was also found to have lied to both Bennett and the investigator.
Additional violations were discovered during the investigation, including Clark's improper handling of firearms in his office and unauthorized personal use of his town-supplied vehicle.
Following Clark's dismissal, Captain Chad Wilson was appointed as the new police chief of Mars Hill.
