Greg Brooks Jr., a former LSU safety, has filed a lawsuit against LSU and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, claiming negligence in diagnosing and treating his brain tumor.
The lawsuit alleges that Brooks experienced neurological symptoms during practice in August 2023, which were ignored by coaching and medical staff, delaying his referral to a neurologist.
Brooks contends that he was pressured to continue playing despite his symptoms, with threats of losing his starting position, before an MRI revealed a brain tumor.
The surgery to remove the tumor allegedly resulted in multiple strokes and posterior fossa syndrome, leaving Brooks unable to walk and with other severe impairments.
LSU and the hospital have issued statements expressing concern for Brooks but have not commented on the specifics of the ongoing litigation due to privacy laws.
