• Thomas was inducted on October 1 during an RSS Vijayadashami padhasanchalan at Pallikkara in Ernakulam, where he appeared in the organisation’s Ganavesha.
• At the event he said the RSS has no caste, religion, language or regional factionalism and aims to strengthen the nation by building strong individuals.
• He described a decades-long association with the RSS, citing a formative 1997 encounter in Mysuru and long-standing ties with its leadership, and said he attended RSS functions even while in service.
• After retiring in 2020, he joined the BJP in 2021 and contested the Irinjalakuda Assembly seat, finishing third with about 33,000 votes.
• His move follows other retired Kerala police chiefs aligning with the Sangh Parivar, and commentators have questioned the organisation’s ideology in relation to constitutional principles.
