Former Houston-Area Teacher Captured in Peru, Now Held in Harris County Jail on Child Sex Assault Cases

A court hearing is set for Dec. 1 following his return to Houston.

Overview

  • Wilfred Sequeiros, 60, was arrested on Nov. 20 in Peru and returned to U.S. custody, according to Harris County authorities.
  • He is accused of sexually and physically assaulting at least seven children ages 7 to 10 between 2014 and 2019 at Eiland Elementary and Northline Elementary.
  • Deputy Marshal Josh Wright said the suspect allegedly isolated children in classrooms and threatened them to keep silent.
  • Officials say Sequeiros had been arrested in 2020 and 2021 on similar allegations, was released on bond, then fled after a 2023 child sexual assault charge.
  • The arrest and transfer involved the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals, Peruvian authorities, INTERPOL and the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs, and court records show multiple active cases including three for continuous sexual abuse of a child.
