Former Handball World Champion Markus Baur Named HG Saarlouis Sporting Director

Baur, a decorated player and coach, aims to lead the third-division team toward promotion to the 2. Bundesliga.

Markus Baur, former captain of Germany's 2007 handball World Cup-winning team, will become Sporting Director for HG Saarlouis starting this summer.
The 54-year-old brings extensive experience, including 228 international matches as a player and coaching roles at top clubs and the German junior national team.
Baur's primary goal is to develop HG Saarlouis with a clear strategy and patience, targeting a return to the 2. Bundesliga in the near future.
His responsibilities will include roster planning and creating the team's sporting concepts to build a sustainable foundation for success.
Baur's most recent role was as head coach of Bundesliga team FA Göppingen, a position he held until June 2024.
