Former First Lady of U.S. Virgin Islands Aided Jeffrey Epstein, Bank Says

  • JPMorgan Chase alleged that Jeffrey Epstein communicated with the former first lady of the U.S. Virgin Islands about altering local sex offender laws, easing airport customs, and getting visas for his victims.
  • JP Morgan accused Cecile de Jongh, who worked as an office manager for Epstein, of acting as his “primary conduit for spreading money and influence throughout the USVI”.
  • Epstein paid tuition for the children of the US Virgin Islands’ governor and first lady, including at New York’s Skidmore College.
  • De Jongh also helped Epstein get visas for several of his alleged victims and arranged special classes for them at the University of the Virgin Islands.
  • JPMorgan settled a separate, class action lawsuit with one of Epstein's victims and is suing one of its former executives, Jes Staley, alleging that he knew about Epstein's sex trafficking but hid his crimes to keep him as a client.
