Former FedEx Driver Sues Company, Alleged Attackers for $5M
D’Monterrio Gibson claims FedEx forced him to return to the route where he was allegedly shot at and chased, leading to emotional distress.
- D’Monterrio Gibson, a Black former FedEx driver, has filed a $5 million lawsuit against FedEx and two white men, Gregory and Brandon Case, who he alleges shot at his van and chased him.
- The incident occurred on January 24, 2022, in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Gibson was not injured, but the experience caused him 'depression, stress, anxiety, loss of sleep, and emotional pain and suffering.'
- The Cases are charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy, and shooting into Gibson's vehicle. A mistrial was declared in their criminal case due to police errors.
- After the incident, FedEx made Gibson return to work on the same route where the attack occurred. He was later fired for not accepting a part-time, non-courier job that the company offered him.
- A previous $5 million lawsuit filed by Gibson against FedEx, the city of Brookhaven, the police chief, and the Cases was dismissed by a federal judge in August.
