John Bellhouse, a former federal correctional officer, has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for sexually abusing two female inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Dublin.
Bellhouse was convicted of two counts of sexual abuse of a ward and three counts of abusive sexual contact that occurred between December 2019 and December 2020.
The sentencing is part of the Justice Department's ongoing efforts to address misconduct at FCI Dublin and eradicate sexual assault from the prison system.
Evidence presented at trial showed that Bellhouse used his position to exploit the inmates, engaging in sexual acts and providing contraband items in exchange for their silence.
This is the eighth case against FCI Dublin's correctional officers for sexual abuse crimes, highlighting a culture of abuse and cover-up at the facility.
