Former Connecticut Mayoral Candidate Pleads Guilty to Jan. 6 Capitol Breach

Gino DiGiovanni Jr., who ran for mayor in Derby last year, is expected to receive a fine and probation following his guilty plea.

Gino DiGiovanni Jr., a former mayoral candidate in Connecticut, pleaded guilty to entering and remaining on restricted grounds during the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.
DiGiovanni had reached a plea deal in December, which is now official.
His attorney expects DiGiovanni to get a fine and probation, which is usual for Jan. 6 defendants charged with misdemeanors who plead guilty.
DiGiovanni previously served as an alderman and ran for mayor in Derby last year.
DiGiovanni is set to be sentenced in April.
