Former CBP Officer Pleads Guilty in Minnesota Child Pornography Case

A cyber tip tied to the Kik app led investigators to illicit material on his devices, officials say.

Overview

  • Anthony John Crowley, 52, of Minnetonka, admitted in federal court to possessing images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
  • He entered the plea on September 26 before U.S. District Judge Lauren M. Provinzino in Minneapolis.
  • Crowley remains detained awaiting a sentencing date and is on indefinite suspension from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
  • The case began in 2022 when the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension received an ICAC tip linking a Kik user ID to Crowley’s phone number and email.
  • A search of his home recovered devices containing numerous illegal images and “child erotica,” and the investigation involved the FBI, Minnesota BCA, Minnetonka Police, and CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca E. Kline prosecuting.
