Former CBP Officer Admits to Stealing $18,700 from Naples Airport Passengers

William Joseph Timothy pleads guilty to multiple thefts during currency verifications, agrees to restitution and resignation

Timothy stole cash from passengers during border enforcement exams between May 2023 and January 2024.
A total of 17 incidents and 18 victims were identified in the investigation.
The thefts were discovered through surveillance footage reviewed by CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility.
Timothy faces up to 10 years in federal prison and has agreed to pay full restitution.
A sentencing date has not yet been set.
