Former Cardinals Executive Sues Team and Owner for Defamation

Terry McDonough, former Cardinals VP of personnel, sues the team, owner Michael Bidwill, and others for defamation and emotional distress after a $3M arbitration award.
The lawsuit follows an NFL arbitrator's finding that the Cardinals and Bidwill made false and defamatory statements against McDonough, accusing him of spousal abuse and neglect.
McDonough's legal action is partly in retaliation for his dismissal, allegedly for refusing to use burner phones to circumvent team suspensions.
The lawsuit also names the PR firm Counterpoint Strategies and its executive, among others, as defendants, accusing them of damaging McDonough's reputation.
The Cardinals acknowledge the lawsuit but refrain from commenting further due to its active legal status.
