Overview
- Joseph Ray Snow was sentenced on Oct. 21 to 10 years in state prison following his Aug. 13 convictions for second-degree assault and failure of duty.
- During the hearing, District Attorney Pamela Casey presented video evidence of an earlier assault on a female inmate that was discovered this year.
- Surveillance from Dec. 3, 2022 shows Snow grabbing Jonathan Calloway during booking, throwing a chair, returning as two officers restrained him, and kicking him in the face.
- Calloway lost teeth, suffered a broken nose and facial lacerations, received initial care at the jail, and was taken to UAB St. Vincent’s Blount for treatment.
- The State Bureau of Investigation led the probe, Snow received a concurrent one-year term for the duty violation, and he is being transferred to state custody after holding in Cullman County Jail.
