Former Blizzard Developer Secures Decade of WoW Subscription Prior to Layoff

Microsoft's recent layoffs following Activision Blizzard acquisition leads to cancellation of Blizzard's new survival game.

Microsoft laid off around 1,900 employees from its gaming teams following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, including developers at Blizzard Entertainment.
Adam Holisky, a former Blizzard developer, used his employee perks to secure 10 years' worth of World of Warcraft subscription time before being laid off.
Holisky, who was the product lead at Core Technology, claimed ten 1-year subscription codes from his account, extending his subscription to October 14th, 2033.
Blizzard employees can get 1-year subscription codes as a perk of working at the company, allowing them to bypass the monthly fees.
Blizzard has also cancelled a new untitled survival game they were working on, following the layoffs.
