Overview

  • Amiri was convicted of depriving a bicyclist of his civil rights by punching him and ordering his K-9 to bite the victim during a July 2019 stop and of falsifying the police report that followed.
  • In August 2024, a jury found him guilty of wire fraud and conspiracy after he paid someone to complete his online coursework so he could claim a bachelor’s degree and receive a 5% pay raise.
  • On June 24, 2025, Senior Judge Jeffrey S. White sentenced Amiri to 84 months in prison, three years of supervised release and $13,706 in restitution.
  • Prosecutors highlighted Amiri’s refusal to fully accept responsibility despite his attorneys’ arguments that PTSD and personal growth warranted leniency.
  • His 84-month term is the longest issued so far in a joint FBI and Contra Costa County probe that has charged ten current and former officers from Antioch and Pittsburg police departments.
