Overview

  • The Dresden Higher Regional Court found Jian G. guilty of particularly serious agent activity for China and imposed a prison term of four years and nine months.
  • Prosecutors said he obtained more than 500 files, including documents the European Parliament classified as particularly sensitive, and relayed them to his handler.
  • The court determined he also compiled personal information on AfD leaders and surveilled Chinese dissidents in Germany.
  • Co-defendant Yaqi X., a logistics employee at Leipzig/Halle Airport, received a suspended 1-year-9-month sentence after admitting she passed flight, cargo and passenger data, including on military transports.
  • Separately, a bribery and money-laundering investigation into Maximilian Krah over China-linked payments remains open after the Bundestag lifted his immunity, and he denies wrongdoing and knowledge of the espionage.
