Forest Gate Police Station Blaze Under Control, Policing Unaffected

The fire at Forest Gate police station in East London has been brought under control with no reported injuries, and Metropolitan Police operations continue as normal.

Around 175 firefighters and 30 fire engines responded to the blaze at Forest Gate police station, which saw the roof completely destroyed.
The fire, which is not being treated as suspicious, forced the evacuation of the station and nearby residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut.
Despite the damage, the Metropolitan Police assures that their ability to deliver policing services in Newham remains unaffected.
Officers based at Forest Gate have been relocated to other buildings across the borough, with no impact on the availability of police cells.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with fire service experts to trawl through the building for clues.
