Overview

• On August 8, around 3 PM, an uncontrolled blaze destroyed a home on Calle 12 between 149 and 150 in Berisso, killing Gerónima Alegre, 85, and Florentino Fernández, 76
• Police from the Comando de Patrullas de Berisso forced entry after neighbors reported heavy smoke and Bomberos Voluntarios de Berisso extinguished the flames, discovering the victims’ carbonized bodies
• UFI N°17 prosecutor María Eugenia Di Lorenzo has secured the site and summoned Policía Científica specialists and fire department peritos to analyze the fire’s origin
• Autopsies are underway and investigators are examining electrical systems, combustible garments and other high-flammability elements to determine if the fire was accidental before the case moves to UFI N°10 de Delitos Culposos
