Overview

  • Om Saran, 38, was arrested and sent to judicial custody after confessing that he killed his wife Amarvati at the behest of his lover and tried to pass it off as a highway robbery.
  • Police booked Saran under sections 103, 230, 238 and 240 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, charging him with murder, fabricating evidence, hiding evidence and giving false information.
  • Investigators unearthed inconsistencies in Saran’s robbery claim, recovered hidden jewellery and cash near the scene, and traced call records implicating his lover, Mannat, who is now under investigation.
  • Separately, Rajiv survived a July 21 attack that left his arms and legs broken after his wife Sadhana and her five brothers allegedly hired goons to assault and bury him alive.
  • A case has been registered against Sadhana and her brothers, who are being sought for arrest, while Rajiv remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
