Ford Unveils Mustang Dark Horse SC With GTD-Derived Supercharged V8 and Track Pack

The track-focused road car replaces the Shelby GT500 below the GTD.

Overview

  • Developed by Ford Racing, the Dark Horse SC uses the GTD’s 5.2‑litre supercharged V8 paired with a seven‑speed dual‑clutch transmission, plus Variable Traction Control and next‑gen MagneRide suspension.
  • Two versions launch: Standard and a Track Pack that adds 20‑inch carbon‑fibre wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, Brembo carbon‑ceramic brakes, recalibrated damping, and a rear‑seat delete.
  • Ford claims the Track Pack cuts 68kg versus the Standard model and produces about 281kg of downforce near 290km/h, while the base SC also gains substantial Brembo hardware.
  • Cooling and aero upgrades include a reworked front end and an aluminium hood with a large carbon vent that can deliver 2.5 times more downforce when the rain tray is removed, alongside revised suspension and steering components.
  • Official power and torque figures have not been released, with US customer deliveries expected in Q3 2026 and a limited Track Pack Special Edition offered for the 2026 model year.
