Ford to Run 2027 WEC Hypercar In-House From New Banbury Base

Ford aims for faster decisions with clearer tech transfer to road cars.

Overview

  • The manufacturer confirmed a full factory operation under Ford Racing rather than contracting an external race team.
  • The programme will be headquartered in Banbury in the United Kingdom and led by LMDh programme manager Dan Sayers.
  • ORECA remains the chassis partner and will support development and provide trackside assistance for the LMDh car.
  • Venture Engineering will supply technical and operational support, with additional resources available in Dearborn, Charlotte and Red Bull Ford Powertrains.
  • Recruitment is underway to fill dozens of roles, with a first shakedown targeted for summer 2026 ahead of a 2027 WEC debut, while the engine configuration remains unconfirmed.
