Ford to Add 15,000 Tesla Superchargers, Expanding EV Charging Network to Over 106,000 Stations

Ford supercharges charging network, including a boost from an initially expected 12,000 Tesla Superchargers to 15,000 to be available starting next spring, making strides towards easing "range anxiety" for electric vehicle drivers.

  • Ford has announced it will expand its EV charging network by adding 15,000 Tesla Superchargers, up by 3,000 from previous estimates, beginning from next spring. This will bring Ford's total number of charging stations to over 106,000.
  • Ford's expansion of its BlueOval Charge Network includes adding access to Francis Energy, Blink, and Red E charging providers across North America. This will add more than 10,000 new chargers to Ford's network, including over 550 new DC fast chargers.
  • The increased number of charging stations is part of Ford's efforts to alleviate 'range anxiety', a common concern among EV drivers about the limited distance that can be covered before needing to recharge.
  • In addition to the Tesla Superchargers, new fast chargers will be arriving at Ford Model e dealerships in 2024, as part of the company's initiatives to improve the electric driving experience for its customers.
  • Ford was the first major automaker to partner with Tesla for charging access, sparking a series of collaborations with other automakers such as GM, Volvo, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota and others.
