Overview

  • The NHTSA-ordered recall covers select 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco and Ranger vehicles with potentially faulty Electronic Brake Booster modules.
  • A voltage-sensitive defect in the EBB module can shut down power brake assist during driving or ADAS use, extending stopping distances and increasing crash risk.
  • Over-the-air updates will begin in early August, and dealers can install the free software patch to restore brake assist functionality.
  • Owner notification letters will be mailed starting Aug. 25, and customers are advised to confirm their VIN status with Ford due to non-sequential assembly.
  • The recall follows a series of major 2025 safety campaigns and highlights ongoing challenges with supplier component quality and vehicle software systems.
