Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for more than 200,000 vehicles due to a camera safety issue.

Overview

  • The recall, identified as campaign 25S72, covers 200,061 vehicles across various model years of Ford trucks, SUVs and Lincoln luxury cars.
  • A software defect can cause the rearview camera to show a blank screen or remain on display after reversing, increasing the risk of a crash and driver distraction.
  • Ford reported the issue to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in late June under rules requiring backup camera reliability on all new vehicles.
  • Dealers will install complimentary software updates to correct the malfunction, and owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed by July 28.
  • Vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
