Ford Recalls 174,853 Vehicles for Moonroof Wind-Deflectors That Can Detach

VIN searches are live ahead of owner letters starting Nov. 3.

Overview

  • Documents filed with NHTSA say wind-deflector clips may not be fully seated, allowing the deflector to detach and create a road hazard.
  • Affected models include certain 2021–2023 F-150 trucks, 2022 F-250/F-350/F-450 Super Duty, 2021–2022 Expedition, and 2021–2022 Lincoln Navigator.
  • Ford attributes the issue to excess molding flash on clips that prevented proper attachment during installation.
  • The company reports 341 warranty claims and two field reports with two drivers struck but no known crashes; Webasto supplied the moonroof assemblies.
  • Dealers will inspect all 13 clips and replace parts as needed at no cost, with repairs beginning in November, while separate Oct. 29–30 recalls cover about 227,000 additional vehicles for unrelated defects.
