Ford Recalls 1.46 Million U.S. Vehicles for Rearview Camera Failures

NHTSA links the defect to an unauthorized supplier change that can cause connector corrosion.

Overview

  • The recall spans more than 50 Ford and Lincoln models from 2015–2019, including Edge, Mustang, F-Series, Transit, MKC and Navigator.
  • Campaign 25S89 covers 1,456,417 vehicles, VIN lookups are live, and initial owner notices start Sept. 22.
  • A permanent fix is still in development, with dealers to inspect and replace affected rearview cameras at no charge once parts are ready.
  • Ford has reported 18 crashes associated with blank or distorted camera images, with no injuries to date.
  • Additional recalls published the same week bring the total to roughly 1.67 million vehicles, including Mazda fuel-gauge, Toyota/Lexus/Subaru defroster, Acura power-steering, Rivian driver-assist software, and Ducati rear-axle issues.
