Ford Recalls 1.45 Million U.S. Vehicles for Rearview Camera Failures

The move follows a regulator probe, fitting into a broader plan for 2015–2025 analog cameras that includes extended warranty coverage.

Overview

  • The U.S. recall covers select 2015–2020 Ford and Lincoln models, including Explorer, Escape, Mustang, Flex, Fiesta, C‑Max, Taurus, Fusion, and Lincoln MKT and MKZ.
  • NHTSA says affected cameras can show distorted, intermittent, or blank images in reverse, which increases the risk of a crash.
  • Dealers will inspect and replace cameras at no charge, with owner letters mailing in October; reference numbers are NHTSA 25V695 and Ford 25SA9.
  • A large share involves 2015–2016 Escapes (about 518,893) and 2016 Fusions (about 315,147), with additional remedy communications expected as late as June 2026.
  • Ford reported roughly 12,500 warranty claims and five accidents with no injuries; the action follows multiple 2025 camera recalls and a September agreement with NHTSA that includes a 15‑year rear camera warranty program for many analog‑camera vehicles.
