Overview

  • This recall extends December 2023’s hub-bolt campaign to approximately 103,174 2023–2025 F-150s equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and heavy-duty 9.75-inch axles.
  • Affected hub bolts may fatigue and break, damaging hub splines and risking rear-drive loss or unintended rollaway, though drivers may hear clicking or rattling noises beforehand.
  • Ford’s internal review logged 194 warranty claims of broken bolts on post-recall production but confirmed no accidents or injuries linked to the defect.
  • A redesigned axle-shaft assembly featuring revised spline geometry, a larger contact area and M24 stud and nut entered production in May 2025 to address the issue.
  • Owner notification letters will be mailed in phases from Aug. 18, 2025 through May 22, 2026, and dealerships will replace both left and right rear axle shafts free of charge.
