Ford Racing Keeps GTD Pro Lineup and Mustang GT3 Program for 2027
Ford cites the Mustang GT3 Evo's 2026 performance gains as justification for keeping drivers, team structure and hardware next season.
Overview
- Ford Racing and Multimatic confirmed on Friday that Dennis Olsen and Ben Barker will return in the No. 64 Mustang GT3 and Frédéric Vervisch and Christopher Mies will stay in the No. 65 for the 2027 IMSA GTD Pro season.
- The team said it will retain its current program structure and Mustang GT3 Evo hardware because the 2026 Evo package improved aerodynamic balance, suspension kinematics and braking to deliver wins and more consistent lap times.
- The Evo-driven gains translated into on-track success this year with Vervisch and Mies winning at Laguna Seca and Olsen and Barker winning at Indianapolis plus multiple podiums at VIR and other rounds.
- Both Ford entries remain mathematically eligible for the GTD Pro Drivers’ and Teams’ titles going into Motul Petit Le Mans and Ford sits second in the manufacturers’ standings, 68 points behind Chevrolet.
- Keeping the same drivers and car for 2027 preserves development continuity that should speed technical progress and strengthen Ford’s bid for championship honors while maintaining the team’s international momentum from results at Nürburgring and Suzuka.
