Overview

  • Ford is recalling 694,271 Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs equipped with 1.5L engines after identifying cracked fuel injectors that can leak and ignite underhood.
  • This recall replaces previous November 2022 and March 2024 software-only actions after the NHTSA determined they failed to address the root cause of injector cracking.
  • Dealers will provide a complimentary engine control software update capable of detecting injector failures, reducing pump pressure and derating engine power to lower fire risk.
  • Owner notification letters will begin mailing August 18 with instructions for the interim update and a second mailing when the permanent injector replacement is ready.
  • The faulty injectors were supplied by Italy’s Dumarey Flowmotion Technologies and Ford is engineering a final hardware remedy that is still under development.
